BRYAN OTEN PHOTOGRAPHY: “Jackie O. Black in Black Erotica”
Recently while surfing online, I ran across a photographer named, Bryan Oten. Based out of the San Diego area his series of erotic photographs caught my attention in a wonderfully surprising way. Initially, I was looking for a few tasteful images of interracial erotic photography for my MySpace page promoting my stories of romantica.
While I did not find the interracial images I was looking for, I was amazed by what I did find: Some of the most beautifully photographed body images of a black woman I think I may have seen. It turns out this talented young man is self-taught and has been shooting serious photography for only three short years.
This goes to prove oftentimes natural talent and instinct is supreme as Oten has a great sense of using strategic lighting to his benefit revealing unique and striking results. I also get the impression he creates a good rapport with his models as most of them, who I believe to be amateurs, give him wonderfully comfortable poses.
Last week, without warning MySpace chose to delete these images from my page, I suppose for being “indecent.” (As if MySpace is not already a haven for every sexually tasteless image you can find on the net, however they continuously censor “art”… I’ll save that for another rant another day!) — But, for those who didn’t have a chance to enjoy Oten’s photography the first time, here they are again.
